How I Got My Redmi Note 3

4:27 PM

Yeah... I know. New phone for me at last!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally I can write a post on it! I'm using my off day to type this blog post coz usual days would be too freaking tired >.<

Those close to me will know I had been using my Samsung Galaxy SII for 3-4 years and it had pissed me off with its lagginess from time to time since last year! I couldn't wait to get rid of it since like forever! At first I wanted Samsung Galaxy Note 5, probably because I was seduced by its advertisement. Luckily I'm not someone who will rush into decisions so I realised its not worth it to buy expensive phones. Now... How did I think of buying Xiao Mi's phone? I couldn't remember lol. I liked the Mi 10,000 mAh powerbank (the only Mi product that I owned that time, good quality BTW) that my cousin gave me but I never thought of buying Mi's phone.

Probably because of my kiam siap personality, I think Mi's products are made for me LOL coz 价廉物美 mah! So I decided to buy its In-ear headphones that were having discounts someday during year-end. One reason was because my SII's headphones were spoiled and I needed a pair of headphones that were comfortable and wouldn't hurt my ears. Second reason was to test out Mi's product so that I can be confident in buying their phone! It's my first time buying a headphone that cost around RM50. Honestly speaking, the quality of sound is not superb (it's not a high-end headphone like Beats after all), but the design is quite comfortable to use so I still like it and no regrets in buying it. And then, I decided to buy Xiao Mi's phone.

I was hesitating whether I should buy the Mi4i, Redmi Note 3 or Mi5 at that time because there was no news on when Redmi Note 3 or Mi 5 were going to be released in Malaysia. I didn't want imported sets from China. Eventually I decided to wait because the full-metal body and fingerprint sensor in Redmi Note 3 were too good to be missed (turned out to be exactly the same price as Mi4i)! But I didn't wait for Mi5 although it's processor is claimed to be comparable to Note 5 and its screen size suits my small hands more (Redmi Note 3 is huge). All because I simply cannot tahan my SII liao!

OK la... Pardon me for my long-winded elaboration on how I decided to buy Redmi Note 3 lol. These are the little thoughts that I wish to keep for future reference haha.

So now let's move on to how I grab the Redmi Note 3 on Mi's website like sohai wtf.

I was very confident that I could grab all the things I want --- Redmi Note 3 Gold, tempered glass screen protector and soft case, since I could grab the Mi powerbanks last time (although I didn't actually buy them) and the Mi FB page stated they had enough stocks for everyone. Last time, the powerbanks were up for grabs 2 minutes earlier before the announced time. So, this time round, I added the phone accessories into cart and started refreshing the page at 11.58 AM ba... but the page still showed out of stock. So, I figured maybe this time they will be punctual. I don't know why I became lazy or too confident, I went to browse other stuffs and only start refreshing at 12 PM sharp. WTH. I suceeded in adding the phone into the cart, checked out, clicked the company invoice button, typed my dad's company name, pasted company's address and clicked "place order". POOF! A pop-up shows the phone is out of stock! I couldn't believe my eyes. I thought they said they have enough stocks? I refreshed again but it was the reality.

I also clicked the Redmi Note 3 Grey because I saw it was still available, added into cart and when I wanted to place order, POOF! out of stock again! Arghhhhh my heart was beating like crazy and was filled with remorse. Still, I didn't give up, I kept refreshing for 15 minutes wtf but no use. Redmi Note 3 16GB+2GB RAM version was still available until TODAY BTW but I didn't want to settle with just 16GB version! I placed an order with the 16GB version to book the phone anyway because I scared I will end up with no new phone T.T. I purposely took an off day to grab this phone after all. Well, at least it could buy me some time to think whether it's wise to just buy the 16GB version.

I started checking out all the visitor posts and comments on Mi's FB page. Many people complaining and of course people that were showing off their victories. They managed to grab the phone at around 11.56-11.58 AM! Some even resorted to buying Redmi Note 3 from Lazada which apparently claimed that its Malaysian version phone with Xiao Mi's warranty. And there were discounts up to RM50 if your a first-time buyer at Lazada too! Still, I was hesitant to buy from Lazada. Why Lazada have plenty of stocks?! Why Xiao Mi Malaysia didn't officially announce that Lazada is their reseller? After 1 or 2 hours I still didn't give up, I kept scrolling the visitor posts in Mi's FB page for a ray of hope, lo and behold, someone said he managed to grab a Redmi Note 3 Grey at this hour (with picture proof)! So I started refreshing the page from time to time, not every second but maybe every 5-10 minutes. Finally, 老天不负有心人, I finally saw the "Buy Now" button at the Redmi Note 3 Grey section! I immediately clicked but this time I was forced to remove the tempered glass screen protector from the cart because it was out of stock wtf! Then I checked out, didn't change to company invoice because I learnt my lesson, and placed my order!

I GOT IT.

I GOT THE REDMI NOTE 3 32GB+3GB GREY. After that I went back to see the page again and the phone was out of stock once again! I didn't pay on the spot because I still wanna maybe try my luck and see whether I can get the GOLD one. I probably managed to get the GREY one because someone cancelled order so I figured maybe someone will cancel a GOLD one. But HAIH I didn't get to see the "Buy Now" button in GOLD section. I also failed to grab any RM1 flash sale items wtf. So I decided to just buy the Grey one because I didn't want to waste anymore time on waiting for the GOLD one to miraculously appear lol. I saw the tempered glass screen protector was back in stock again but I didn't buy it because I would have to buy it in another transaction and that would cost me RM15 delivery fee for purchases under RM100. So what I got were just the phone that cost RM849 and its clear soft case that cost RM15. BTW I got a RM10 accesories voucher from the Mi Event so yay discount for me!

Haha I expected the processing and delivery of the phone would take ages according to what other people said. When my sis bought their Mi4i's and my headphone, the parcel only reached our house after around 1 week I think? BUT SURPRISINGLY, the next day after the Mi Event, I saw many people on Mi's FB page already received their Redmi Note 3! So I was very excited! My status went from paid to processed in just 3 minutes, and it went from processed to shipped in 1 day!

It reached my house early in the morning just TWO days after the purchase! Kudos to the Mi team! But I still hate you for making us all hyped up and deceiving us by telling us there were enough stocks and then ended up we had to grab like sohai and some of us even filled with disappointment of not able to grab one!

Oh ya, the day when the phone reached my house, my mum just ngam ngam came back home from her usual Tzu Chi work. Just 10 minutes after my mum reached home! DAMN LUCKY OR WHAT?! If nobody's at home at that time, I probably had to wait another day or few days more to get my new phone! Haha my mum immediately Whatsapped me when she received the phone. I was waiting for my boss in front of the pharmacy in the scorching weather and my mood instantly level up! Couldn't wait to go back home and play with ma' new phone!!! That day I coincidentally working morning shift so I could get back home early to play with the phone! But because of some customers keep hogging my boss, I left work 40 minutes late because I had to wait my boss to close the sales. But NVM I didn't really feel angry because my mood was super good that day you know why lol.

OK so this is how I got my new Redmi Note 3. :D
